The United States of America witnessed a political shift with the inauguration of Rutherford B. Hayes as the 19th President. Hayes took office on March 4, 1877, inherited a nation still coming to terms with the aftermath of the Civil War. Hayes immediately enforced his commitment to reconciliation and reform. He initiated his aims to heal the nation's wounds and advance progressive policies. <br><br>
Perhaps the most defining moment of Hayes’s presidency during this first six months in office was marked by the end of Reconstructions. Acknowledging the need for healing and unity, Hayes withdrew federal troops from the South, effectively bringing an end to the era of military occupation. This decision allowed Southern states to regain control over their governments, a period of time that is still debated to this day as to whether Hayes acted too quickly or not. <br><br>
Hayes was a strong advocate for civil service reform. He wanted to eliminate corruption and patronage within the government. In his first six months, he established the Civil Service Commission, which aimed to implement merit-based appointments and competitive examinations for government positions. Hayes' efforts laid the foundation for the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act, which would be enacted several years later. <br><br>
Faced with economic challenges, including the aftermath of the Panic of 1873, a severe financial crisis, Hayes’s administration took measures to restore economic stability and rebuild public trust. Hayes promoted fiscal responsibility, advocated for currency reform, and pursued policies aimed at reviving the nation's struggling economy. These initial steps set up the groundwork for future economic growth. <br><br>
Education held a special place in the Hayes's administration. During his early months in office, he advocated for educational opportunities for all Americans. He called for increased federal funding for public schools and emphasized the importance of education in creating a more prosperous and equal society. Additionally, Hayes sought to improve the rights of Native Americans, proposing policies to protect their land and culture. This may have been one of the first, true steps to help Native Americans. <br><br>
Hayes remained committed to civil rights for African Americans. He spoke out against racial discrimination and appointed individuals who advocated for equal rights to key positions in his administration. Despite his attempts, many still see the withdrawal of troops from the south and the end of Reconstruction as a mistake that would affect the country into the next century. <br><br>
Hayes' presidency saw notable diplomatic achievements, particularly in addressing strained international relations. He pursued negotiations with Great Britain over the contentious issue of fishing rights off the coast of Newfoundland, eventually leading to the signing of the Treaty of Washington in 1877. Furthermore, his administration initiated discussions with China, resulting in the modification of the Burlingame Treaty to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations. <br><br>
The first six months of Rutherford B. Hayes' presidency were marked by a series of significant achievements and initiatives that aimed to heal the nation, promote reform, and foster progress. From the resolution of Reconstruction to civil service reform and diplomatic successes, Hayes demonstrated his commitment to reconciliation, economic stability, and equal rights for all Americans. Although his presidency faced numerous challenges, these early accomplishments laid the groundwork for a transformative era in American history.

Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States, took office on March 4, 1869, following an election against Horatio Seymour. The first six months of his presidency were marked by several significant events and decisions that would shape the course of America.
<br><br>
One of Grant's first acts as president was to address the issue of Reconstruction in the South. Grant wanted to ensure that African Americans had the same rights and protections as others in the country, and he worked to enforce the 14th and 15th Amendments to the Constitution. He also appointed several African Americans to political positions, breaking new ground in the fight for racial equality.
<br><br>
President Grant also faced the ongoing conflict with Native American tribes in the West. He appointed Ely S. Parker, a Seneca Indian, as Commissioner of Indian Affairs and worked to negotiate peace treaties with several tribes. However, his administration also oversaw the forced relocation of several tribes and the massacre at Wounded Knee in 1890 which by many has been described as the worst "mass shooting" in U.S. history.
<br><br>
During this time, Grant also made important advances in foreign policy. He dispatched Secretary of State Hamilton Fish to negotiate the Treaty of Washington with Great Britain, which resolved several long-standing disputes and set the stage for a closer relationship between the two countries. He also sent a naval expedition to Japan, which opened up trade and diplomatic relations between the two nations.
<br><br>
Despite his successes, Grant's presidency was not without controversy. Several members of his administration were implicated in the Credit Mobilier scandal, in which they profited from fraudulent contracts for the construction of the transcontinental railroad. Grant himself was not implicated in the scandal, but it tarnished his reputation and raised questions about his ability to lead.
<br><br>
The first six months of Ulysses S. Grant's presidency were marked by significant progress on issues of civil rights, foreign policy, and Native American relations. He was committed to ensuring equality for all Americans and worked to strengthen the country's relationships with other nations. However, his administration was also marred by scandal and controversy. Despite these challenges, Grant remained focused on his goals and worked tirelessly to achieve them.

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, assumed office on March 4, 1861, at a time when the country was deeply divided over issues of slavery and states' rights. The first six months of his presidency were marked by several significant events and decisions that set the stage for the Civil War and shaped the course of American history. As the first Republican President, Lincoln was seen by many as the voice of the abolitionist movement. <br><br>
Lincoln moved quickly as he took office, one of his first acts as president was to take steps to preserve the Union. He believed that secession was illegal and refused to recognize the Confederacy as a legitimate government. He also called for volunteers to put down the rebellion and authorized the blockade of Southern ports. These actions were met with resistance from many in the South, who saw them as an act of aggression.<br><br>
Another major issue that Lincoln faced in his first six months as president was the question of slavery. He had campaigned on a platform of limiting the expansion of slavery into new territories, but many in the South saw this as a threat to their way of life. In April 1861, the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter in South Carolina marked the beginning of the Civil War and further intensified the debate over slavery.<br><br>
During this time, Lincoln also struggled to find competent military leadership. He appointed several generals who proved to be ineffective or disloyal, including George B. McClellan and John C. Fremont. It wasn't until the appointment of Ulysses S. Grant as commander of the Union Army in early 1862 that the North began to make significant gains in the war.<br><br>
Despite these challenges, Lincoln remained committed to his vision for a united and free America. He delivered several influential speeches in his first six months as president, including his first inaugural address and his message to Congress on July 4, 1861. In these speeches, he emphasized the importance of preserving the Union and the need for a strong, united effort to defeat the Confederacy. His main focus was always preserving the Union. <br><br>
Overall, the first six months of Abraham Lincoln's presidency were marked by challenges and decisions that would shape the course of American history not only during his lifetime, but for the next hundred years or more. His commitment to preserving the Union and his steadfast opposition to slavery set him on a course that would lead to the ultimate defeat of the Confederacy and the eventual end of slavery. Lincoln remained focused on his goals and worked tirelessly to achieve them.

A planned prayer event will be held on the courthouse lawns at the next Quorum Court Meeting on March 13. </i>
<br><br>
An ordinance proposed by the Quorum Court and currently under review would place noise level restrictions in the county on all citizens. According to the ordinance, a violation will be “noise that is excessive, unnecessary, or unusually loud within the confines of Miller County which could annoy, disturb, injure, or endanger the comfort, peace, safety, or health of its residents or other persons.” The proposal lists potential fines starting with the first offense set at two hundred and fifty dollars. The proposal does offer exemptions for certain events, including church meetings, athletic events, parades, as well as events obtaining an exemption.
<br><br>
Citizens immediately took to social media to express support and opposition to the proposed ordinance. Some comments called the proposal “unnecessary,’ or a “waste,” while others said it was needed. From a casual review of the comments, it did appear a large number of people are opposed to the ordinance.
<br><br>
Several people on social media contacted the Dancing Ranch Farm representative Ronnie Dancer. Dancer stated that many wanted to protest the ordinance at the next meeting but that it was proposed to have instead a prayer meeting outside the courthouse on the day of the event. Dancer said he wants people to talk with the JP members and express concerns about the ordinance or support for the ordinance. Dancer pointed out that events at Halloween and Veteran events with fireworks mean that the Dancing Ranch Farm could violate the ordinance if it goes into effect. The Dancing Ranch Farm has been in operation for a little over two years and has seen success in offering a safe environment for kids and teens to host events and parties. When asked if he could possibly obtain an exemption or waiver as noted under Section 4 of the proposed ordinance, Dancer said he had no way of knowing if an exemption or waiver would be granted or what the ordinance’s requirements for such an exemption or waiver constitutes.
<br><br>
Dancer and others plan to meet on the courthouse lawn on March 13th at 5:00 p.m. They play to pray and hopefully talk with some of the JPs about the ordinance. Dance said several people have already been contacting their respective JP representatives. He noted that telephone numbers and contact methods have been posted on social media and can be found on the county website. <br><br>

Republicans selected Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to give a response to Biden's state of the Union address. Not only did Sanders nail it with her response, but she also brought out key important parts that the current administration seems to ignore.<br><br>
Governor Sanders pointed out problems of inflation, high gas prices, empty shelves in grocery stores, and bills the average American simply can not pay. The Governor also zeroed in on the current trend of teaching hate to younger generations based on race. While Biden seemed content to act as if everything is excellent for the economy, Sanders boldly pointed out the issues and the failure of the current administration to address those issues.
<br><br>
At one point, Biden outright attacked Republicans stating they wanted to limit programs like Social Security and Medicare, to which Republicans in attendance responded verbally and loudly. Sanders took the charge further in remarks concerning Biden. She stated he is “unfit to serve as commander in chief.” The Republican Governor, sounding more like a Presidential candidate than a Governor, pointed out that Biden's “weakness puts our nation and the world at risk." Once again, Sanders shows how much more in touch with reality she is than the current administration.
<br><br>
Sanders is one of the top rising stars of the Republican Party. She is already breaking records from fundraisers to serving as the first female Governor of Arkansas. Speaker McCarthy called Sanders “a servant-leader of true determination and conviction.” McCarthy could not be more correct as Sanders continues to show the nation what true leadership looks like during a failing Biden administration which appears to lack the ability to know which way is up and which way is down. <br><br>

Biden now claims that Chinese spy balloons were "undetected" during the Trump
Administration. Does anyone else have an issue with that entire sentece? Let's
be logical here for a minute and think about this entire event. If a spy balloon
is "undected" then doesn't that mean we don't know about it? If we don't know
about it, then how can the Biden Administration claim the spy balloons were over
the U.S. during the Trump Administration? <br /><br />
Done thinking? Well, let's be logical now - the entire statement seems to imply
that someone knew the spy balloons were over the U.S. during Trump's
Administration, but that someone said nothing and left them listed as
"undetected. Here's the reason I have a major problem with this thought process:
<br /><br />
1. If the Democrats knew about the spy balloons during the Trump Administration,
they would have used that knowledge immediately during the campaign season to
attack Trump...they did not. 2. If Trump had known about the spy balloons during
his administration, there would have been immediate and swift action - like him
or not, you have to admit that he responded from almost the first days in office
to any threats against the U.S. - just like any president would and should. 3.
How does the U.S. suddenly know that there were spy balloons over the U.S. at
any time prior to the one we have been infromed about and they shot down? If
they did know about it, why was there no action until now and why do they keep
saying the spy balloons were "undetected."
<br /><br />
No, like or hate Trump, it really doesn't matter, but the fact is it is doubtful
any spy balloons were over the U.S. during the Trump Administration. The
informaiton about potential spy balloons would have been too good for any
campaign running against Trump to overlook. It only now seems, in someone's
mind, logical to say that the balloons were over the U.S. during the Trump
Administration because Trump is once again running for President. Sadly, there
is a potential nationial threat and instead of focusing on the threat and how to
deal with it in the future, the Democrats in the White House only point to point
fingers at Republicans. So, the cycle of politics continues as the Democrats play games. <br /><br />

Returning members included Democrat Brandon Cogburn and Republican Judy Hardin. Charles Cooper, a former Board Member for the City of Fouke, joined the commission as the second Republican member. At the meeting, Cooper was nominated and elected to serve as chair for the 2023-2024 session.
<br><br>
The elections commission of each county in Arkansas serves as the cornerstone for fair and trusted elections across the state. At one time, the commission was made up of one member from each major party and a third member appointed by the Governor. When Mike Huckabee became governor of Arkansas, the house and senate in Little Rock voted to change the appointment process. At that time, the state changed laws to allow the party holding the majority of the state Constitutional offices to appoint the third member to the commission. Not surprisingly, Huckabee was a Republican, and Democrats controlled the senate and house. To further support the change, Democrats noted that they held the majority of the state's Constitutional offices under Huckabee. The commission consisted of two Democrats elected by the county Democrat party and one Republican elected by the county party.
<br><br>
When the Constitutional offices in Arkansas flipped control and Republicans dominated the positions, legislation was presented by Democrats to change the rules again. Fortunately, Republicans controlled both the house and the senate, and that legislation, which would have changed the laws concerning how the commission could be set up, was crushed. Today the party with the majority of Constitutional offices still holds a two-to-one majority in all county election commissions.
<br><br>
The Miller County Elections Commission is supported by poll workers, judges, a coordinator, and the County Clerk's office. Working together with the clerk's office, the commission is responsible for ensuring ballots are accurate, machines are tested and operating correctly, and that all staff receives training to conduct elections. Commissioners themselves are required to attend training and pass written exams regarding state laws about elections. More information about the role of the elections commission can be obtained online at the <a href="https://www.arkansas.gov/sbec/" target="_blank">Arkansas State Board of Elections Commissioners</a>.
<br><br>
Congratulations to Chair Charles Coopper and commissioners Judy Hardin and Brandon Cogburn. The commission will now be tasked with ensuring elections in 2023 and 2024 are conducted fairly for all candidates and that the laws of both Arkansas and the United States are upheld for the integrity of the election process in the county.

The Miller County Republican Committee met Tuesday evening to elect officers for the 2023-2024 year. Diana Lowe was reelected as Chair and will start her second term this month. Rebecca Potter was elected First Vice-Chair and Ernie Keck was elected Second Vice-Chair. Former Miller County Assessor, Nancy Herron, was elected Treasurer for the committee. Clint Thomas was elected Secretary. <br><br>
Because the Republican Party of Arkansas holds the majority of Constitutional offices in the state, each county has two election commissioners appointed to the county elections commission. The committee elected Judy Hardin and Charles Cooper to the Miller County Elections Commission. Commissioners serve a two-year term and must complete training to oversee elections within the county. <br><br>
Updates will be made to the committee's Facebook page and to the committee's webpage soon.That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645720615625837995.post-33907872045246698272022-11-08T22:23:00.001-06:002022-11-08T22:23:42.563-06:00Big Wins in Miller County, Arkansas 2022<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWWA118IAaGiA92-vgtPUtDJRqoVX_Pc1IeTdLhfkNG4PLccx0R-yRkv0Q-c6S7qfEfYhdgBhsqnjAM0DudiJw1GgCsnjbKNTZVkfnw0Pd6Jg7InMGu8-7dcUO4P68ZLyQFiZg1HgsgP4FeNftwlr9cVMwR-HcNlgNwz_kYQM-nW-XNwN4bBxodpJEhQ/s539/Texarkanagop1.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; clear: right; float: right;"><img alt="" border="0" width="200" data-original-height="450" data-original-width="539" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWWA118IAaGiA92-vgtPUtDJRqoVX_Pc1IeTdLhfkNG4PLccx0R-yRkv0Q-c6S7qfEfYhdgBhsqnjAM0DudiJw1GgCsnjbKNTZVkfnw0Pd6Jg7InMGu8-7dcUO4P68ZLyQFiZg1HgsgP4FeNftwlr9cVMwR-HcNlgNwz_kYQM-nW-XNwN4bBxodpJEhQ/s200/Texarkanagop1.jpg"/></a></div>
The 2022 election cycle is winding down to an end in Arkansas and specifically in Miller County. The county is seeing some of the largest Republican wins since Reconstruction. As of this writing, the county has a confirmed 32 Republicans going into office on a county and state level representing Miller County. There is one race, JP 7 which will have to be declared vacant and appointed. One Democrat, JP 3, was a elected.
<br><br>
With 32 Republicans and 1 Democrat representing the county, it is clearly a red day for Miller County. For state representation, Senator Jimmy Hickey remained in his seat against an independent challenger. Representatives Lane Jean and Carol Dalby both easily held off Libertarian candidates and remained in their respective seats. Representative Danny Watson did not have an opponent in the general election.
<br><br>
Justice of the Peace 1 had the widow of the former candidate John Wilson, continuing his run. Judy Wilson was able to secure the position and take the seat from independent Eric Darden. Unfortunately, Ethan Eppinette was unable to win against Rick Hall. Hall won the seat and will be the only Democrat on the court.
<br><br>
With one loss on the board, the Republican Committee of Miller County has made a significant and important impact on county politics.

Arkansas Secretary of State John Thurston was the keynote speaker of the Miller County Republican Committee's 2022 Lincoln Day Dinner. In the process of providing the keynote, Thurston reminded the committee of the core of the Republican Party, but more than that, he reminded them of the core of the nation. Reaching, in excellent fashion, beyond the bounds of party politics, Thurston stressed the nation's need to return our focus to God.
<br><br>
Thurston told the committee that America being great is not simply about laws, rules, politicians, or even one party. In a resounding reminder, Thurston stressed how no one politician makes policy or law. According to Thurston, no one politician, regardless of party, can make the changes needed to keep America on a positive path. It requires many, as designed by the founding fathers, to point the nation onto the path of righteousness.
<br><br>
Throughout the speech, Thurston came back time-and-time again to one key point. He stressed that without putting God and prayer for intervention and guidance, no nation can continue to be great. In his closing remarks, Thurston not only stressed the need for prayer, but he provided a closing prayer for the committee, state, and nation.
<br><br>
Republicans are used to speeches promoting party policies, pointing out the errors of our opponents, or even pushing for valid and fair elections. Republicans do not need a reminder about the platform or the politics of daily life. Republicans need the reminder that Thurston hammered home with the guidance of a man speaking openly to people, not just Republican people, but all people, that God must be the guiding center for our nation. By rising above, Thurston not only shined as the keynote speaker, but he mapped out a path to continue the greatness that has made America a cornerstone and the object of envy to the rest of the world.

Below is a brief review of what transpired after Mr. Wilson's death:
<br><br>
1. Diana Lowe, the committee chair, immediately contacted the elections commission, Secretary of State and county. She also contacted the state party and several leaders within the party. She received specific instructions and had to act quickly. <br> <br>
2. There is a ten day period to notify the governor and to obtain permission to fill the vacancy. The letter was sent and permission from the governor to open the convention and fill the vacancy was obtained. <br><br>
3. There is the requirement that the convention reconvene. The convention will reconvene on July 21.<br><br>
4. The committee must elect a new candidate for the vacancy.<br><br>
5. The filing feel ($250) can not be waived for the new candidate - state law.<br><br>
6. If there is more than one person filing, the committee at convention must vote.<br><br>
7. If only one person files, the committee votes to certify that person as the Miller County Republican Committee candidate for 2022 JP 1. <br><br>

<br><br>
<H3><B>CLARIFICATION: AFTER THIS ARTICLE WAS PUT OUT, I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS INFORMATION IS BEING DISPUTED. I WILL PROVIDE AN UPDATE WHEN I HAVE ONE. </BR></H3>
<BR><BR>
Jeffery Page – is on the ballot but cannot be elected to the position; if he wins, the position will be vacant.
<br><br>
Roy Pitt – must win the runoff election to ensure that the choice of JP 7 remains with the voters of that district. If he does not win, the Governor of Arkansas must appoint someone.

<br><br>
The runoff for Justice of the Peace District 7 presents a unique and unusual choice for the voters of that district in Miller County. As most people already know, the position had three Republicans file. Jeffery Page, Roy Pitt, and James Syler all presented great choices for the district. But unfortunately, there was no clear winner on election night, and now a runoff is scheduled for Page and Pitt.
<br><br>
The problem for voters in the district is that Page withdrew as a candidate before the election. This left Pitt and Syler, but the ballots had already been printed. Arkansas law required the ballots to go to voters as printed. The result is a runoff between Pitt and Page with a pending result that could remove the right of choice from the people living in district 7.
<br><br>
If the voters in the district vote for Page and he wins the nomination, then the position is declared vacant. This means there is no Democrat candidate on the ballot, and there will be no Republican on the ballot. If the position is declared vacant, the choice of a Justice of the Peace for District 7 falls to the Governor of Arkansas. This would mean that voters would not select their representative, but instead, the Governor would choose one living in the district.
<br><br>
For the voters to have their own elected Justice of the Peace, Republican voters in the district must get behind and vote for Roy Pitt. It would be beneficial for both Syler and Page to endorse Pitt and support his campaign. The county committee and the people of District 7 should get behind Pitt and ensure he wins the runoff election.

As election night came to a close on May 24, it was quickly apparent that two county offices would head into a runoff. The office of Sheriff will see Stephen Ward and Wayne Easley as candidates for the runoff, while JP 7 will see Roy Pitt and Jeffery Page in a runoff.
<br><br>
Ward and Easley have both maintained positive and friendly campaigns, and that attitude seems to have appealed to many voters. There have been several comments on social media along the lines of "We have two good men running, and it's hard to decide," and "Both these guys are great...I just don't know who I should vote for now." Comments, and support, have been relatively positive for both, and it has not hurt either campaign for the two candidates to appear in pictures and publications together. The only thing certain is that on June 21, one of these two great candidates will be elected as the Republican nominee for Sheriff. Having no Democrat opponent, the winner in June will win in November and be sworn in as Miller County Sheriff on January 1, 2023.
<br><br>
The race for Justice of the Peace 7 presents a unique set of problems for the candidates, the elections commission, and the state. Early in the race, candidate Jeffery Page withdrew from the race for JP 7. Unfortunately, he withdrew after the ballots had already been printed. According to state law, Page's name would remain on the ballot. The three-way race for JP 7 resulted in the planned runoff between Page and Pitt. The state and the elections commission are reviewing Arkansas law to determine how to handle a Page win on election day. The only thing clear is that Page can not be elected to the position. Should he win the Republican nomination, keeping in mind there is no Democrat opponent, a vacancy would be declared. Some laws seem to indicate that the Governor could appoint a JP; however, other laws suggest that the Miller County Republican Committee would elect the position. It's important to stress that the state and the elections commission, along with attorneys working with both, are still trying to determine precisely what avenue must be followed according to law. Currently, the idea the Governor would appoint or the committee would appoint is still subject to a final ruling by the state. In a best-case scenario for the county, Pitt would win. Even if he wins, Page can not assume the nomination because he has officially withdrawn.

Specifically, Lightfoot tweeted:
<blockquote>"To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community-the Supreme Court is coming for us next. This moment has to be a call to arms." She added a follow-up tweet "We will not surrender our rights without a fight-a-fight to victory!"
</blockquote>
<br><br>
Lightfoot, who historically seems to be in LaLaLand*, has once again landed herself in there with a tweet that makes no sense whatsoever, calls for armed insurrection against the United States, and ultimately begs the question, "Exactly what are you going to fight with? You're anti-gun, right?" Let's not even mention that if a Republican made the same statement, it would be plastered all over the news, an investigation would be initiated, and in some cases, the Twitter account would be suspended or even banned. Still, I'm sure that would never happen to a Republican, right?
<br><br>
If we take Lightfoot seriously, which I must admit is a stretch for most people, then we can break down precisely what is meant by her statement:
<br><br>
1. She has no idea what the Supreme Court is doing. Over the last several years, the court has upheld gay marriage, LGBTQ+ rights in the workforce and community, and always ruled in favor of the rights of the LGBTQ+ person. So why does she think they are suddenly coming after the LGBTQ+ community? Is she saying this because of abortion, and if so, is abortion rights a major focus or issue in the LGBTQ+ community? Overnight, the Supreme Court will backtrack on the last ten years' worth of ruling and come after the LGBTQ+ community...not likely. This is simply a mayor seeking attention for her tweets and reaching into her community to stir something up where nothing is present to be stirred.
<br><br>
2. Next, Lightfoot wants a call to arms. Again, she wants this call to arms because of what the Supreme Court is apparently about to do. Lightfoot, with her inside view into the legal workings of the court, has decided they are going to do something. Again, here they are going to come after the LGBTQ+ community in some mysterious way. Lightfoot wants a call to arms, or another term that will be familiar to everyone is an "insurrection" because, after all, a call to arms against the Supreme Court is a call to arms against the United States. Yeah, and just as a side-note here...a call to arms against the United States is illegal and punishable under the law.
<br><br>
3. Finally, along with the call to arms, Lightfoot promises the LGBTQ+ community will not allow this...whatever this is...to happen without a fight. We clearly see she wants the community armed - yeah, that goes along with her anti-gun views - and she wants to fight. Based on her statements, we can conclude that the mayor of Chicago is preparing to attack the Supreme Court of the United States of America. That's what she said in her tweet, and based on a logical breakdown, that is what we must assume she intends to happen.
<br><br>
So, the ultimate question here is, should Lightfoot's threat be taken seriously? She has 150,000+ followers on her Twitter account. She is the mayor of a large city with some of the highest incidents of gun violence despite its strict anti-gun laws, and she has a significant group of followers. Yes, she should be taken seriously. Based on previous actions and investigations into threats against the United States, at the least, there should be an investigation. Will there be an investigation? Ultimately, that's up to the powers that be, but I bet if someone told those powers she is now a Republican, it would be front-page news, she would be banned from Twitter, and the FBI would be knocking on her door...just saying.
<br><br>

Justice of the Peace 3 and 7 have both seen withdrawals. In addition, Constable 3 had a candidate withdraw early before the ballot draw was completed. <p></p><p>Justice of the Peace 3 started with a contest between Ethan Eppinette and Danny Jewell. Before the ballot draw in March, Jewell officially withdrew his name as a candidate. As a result, he will not appear on the ballot for the primary. Eppinette has now secured the Republican nomination, but he will face a Democrat opponent in the general election. </p><p>Constable 3 had a primary race between Tom Morrisey and Mark Brown. Before the ballot draw, Morrisey withdrew as a candidate, leaving Brown as the only Republican on the ballot. Brown does not face an opponent for the general election, so he has secured the position of Constable 3. </p><p>Justice of the Peace 7 was set for a three-way Republican Primary race. Jeff Paige, Roy Pitt, and James Syler filed for the position. Paige officially withdrew on March 31st. Because the ballots have already been submitted, Paige will appear on ballots for the primary; however, he will not be counted as an official candidate. The primary will be between Pitt and Syler. The primary winner faces no challenger in the general election and will therefore secured the position. </p><p><br /></p>That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645720615625837995.post-28399096463579423672022-03-28T09:26:00.002-05:002022-03-28T09:26:24.677-05:00Miller County Secure as Republican for 2022 Elections<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_2QO5x3f1y3JsA95HiI8yKb-vUo6eEG8AUR7J89yVgTR1EvG1KfJkhpF1UBkuEAUqsMHGuq1D4qUITXQW6ihi3ZM4_SrbJvjMeeh3nEK1qxfF98WTyyZ_CX0jccO07FLXpAUSV-UDGIxGeUOwA6e-HdyTIOqr26FezaSjeSJ_qjdJT-x_OVp_-aQRHw/s200/millercounty.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="174" data-original-width="200" height="147" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_2QO5x3f1y3JsA95HiI8yKb-vUo6eEG8AUR7J89yVgTR1EvG1KfJkhpF1UBkuEAUqsMHGuq1D4qUITXQW6ihi3ZM4_SrbJvjMeeh3nEK1qxfF98WTyyZ_CX0jccO07FLXpAUSV-UDGIxGeUOwA6e-HdyTIOqr26FezaSjeSJ_qjdJT-x_OVp_-aQRHw/w169-h147/millercounty.png" width="169" /></a></div><p>For the 2022 election cycle, Miller county, Arkansas, already has a Republican dominance, and the first vote has not even been cast yet. In 2018, Miller county saw 27 Republicans take office at the end of the election cycle. In 2020, the number of Republicans in Miller County increased by one for a total of 28 Republicans in office. Before the election has even started, 21 Republicans are already guaranteed positions this year. </p><p>The county has 34 elected positions, from Constable to State Senator and State Representative. Currently, 21 Republicans have no opponents. There are 6 positions with a Republican Primary race. This means that the 21 Republicans will be joined by six additional people on the primary night. Therefore, there will be 27 Republicans secure in their positions on the primary night with no opposition. </p><p>Only two Justice of the Peace (JP) Races have challengers to the Republican position. JP 1 will see Republican John Wilson facing off with an Independent. JP 4 will see Republican Ethan Eppinette facing a Democrat challenger. On the county level, there is currently only one Democrat on the ballot, and he is running for JP 4. </p><p>State Representatives Carol Dalby, Danny Watson, and Lane Jean will all be secure in their Republican nominations, but they will face Libertarian opponents in the general election. In addition, state Senator Jimmy Hickey will face an independent in the general election. </p><p>Based on current projections, only two races present a viable challenge to the Republican Party, JP 1 and JP 4. If Republicans can secure these two positions, Miller County could see a county with 34 Republicans in office starting on January 1, 2023. While there are no guarantees in politics, it certainly looks like the county will have a Republican-controlled government into the foreseeable future. </p><p>For more information and candidates, see the <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ksaV2NsV26NZuatGbVkldhdB7Ui8LzxccHB9LR4l9Go/edit#gid=1658692063" target="_blank">Miller County Election Cycle</a><br /></p><p>To learn more about the Miller County Republican Committee, visit the <a href="http://texarkana-millercountygop.com/" target="_blank">Miller County Republican Committee</a></p>That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645720615625837995.post-52314549129121561062022-03-03T10:01:00.001-06:002022-03-03T10:01:15.583-06:00 Republican Growth Continues in Miller County<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg-XpXA1jI206-4CpNLUNZJ2AMeW3ImMzMbsGObDExu2iUO6D0HK5jCB8KEhO3CO_UPzW_suR6cnmVMZ2K7XNUxJoN7ZU9DMjyrYZwz4qhLJQVyq4BhV5uIIMAhiIxTDeDnAUoEukrG5WA_7v0L-x_N65-4F96-hNqXz0FQX2sc2AIft6LlV_a64q3JJg=s400" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Republican Symbol" border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="172" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg-XpXA1jI206-4CpNLUNZJ2AMeW3ImMzMbsGObDExu2iUO6D0HK5jCB8KEhO3CO_UPzW_suR6cnmVMZ2K7XNUxJoN7ZU9DMjyrYZwz4qhLJQVyq4BhV5uIIMAhiIxTDeDnAUoEukrG5WA_7v0L-x_N65-4F96-hNqXz0FQX2sc2AIft6LlV_a64q3JJg=w172-h172" width="172" /></a></div><br />The growth and influence of the Miller County Republican Committee has never been more evident than during the filings this year. There was a time when Republicans were openly encouraged to run as a Democrat in Miller County. A Republican would go to the courthouse to file for an office, and those helping would immediately say, “Oh, you don’t want to run as a Republican. You won’t get elected. You need to run as a Democrat.” Sadly, in some cases, those Republicans decided running as a Democrat was the only way to win; however, other Republicans stood firm. Those Republicans may have lost the race, but they refused to give up their values. Today, thanks to the work of a dedicated Republican Committee in Miller County, Republicans no longer need to fear hearing they should run as Democrats. <p></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-58ac78c3-7fff-0f1e-0be0-0251395465b9"><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Filing ended at noon on March 1, 2022. At 12:01, the reports showed a clear and continued shift in the county. It’s a shift that has been slowly growing as Americans wake up to the platform of the Republican Party. Forty-five Republicans filed for the thirty-four open positions representing the citizens of Miller at a state and county level. Three Libertarians filed, two independents filed, and only one Democrat filed. After years of seeing Democrats across the ballots in Miller County, there is now only one left willing to run for office. County Republicans secured twenty-one uncontested races at the end of the filing. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The last committee count revealed a total of sixty-four members. With the filing complete, seventy Republicans will take over the county committee at the County Convention this year. Candidates and Committee Members will lead the way into the primary and general election of 2022. The Miller County Republican Committee is a vibrant and overshadowing example of what Republicans can do when the message is clear and shared with citizens. The values are American. The mission is to help keep this great country great. We work at the county level, but without a county committee, there is no district, no state, and no federal level- so keep working, Republicans, because your growth and influence are alive and well in Miller County, Arkansas.</span></p><div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div></span>That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645720615625837995.post-6783672005121036982022-02-07T10:27:00.003-06:002022-02-07T10:27:45.219-06:00Biden: Destroying the American Economy in The First Year<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhxfg9-qbcJUHE-xrcSbP32hQRfTI5i0H_KRN8-S-R5wm2N86XCM0rtqb_qhUTc7TSh5cC_p_LeOh4ih23SSkfcAgtM2pt5WcuGXKbUtn4Xx7tYjBEL9KwWmmfhab0FAtf6Ku8NQVpKfD0ErzgZF7DM3j1oMuJyXwDhH1mp7g8nKXKyAWfhFkC5i2ACAQ=s320" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Joe Biden" border="0" data-original-height="180" data-original-width="320" height="113" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhxfg9-qbcJUHE-xrcSbP32hQRfTI5i0H_KRN8-S-R5wm2N86XCM0rtqb_qhUTc7TSh5cC_p_LeOh4ih23SSkfcAgtM2pt5WcuGXKbUtn4Xx7tYjBEL9KwWmmfhab0FAtf6Ku8NQVpKfD0ErzgZF7DM3j1oMuJyXwDhH1mp7g8nKXKyAWfhFkC5i2ACAQ=w200-h113" title="Confused" width="200" /></a></div>On May 19, 2019, Joe Biden spoke in Pennsylvania and said that President Trump “inherited a good economy” from the Obama Administration. So intent was Biden on expressing how Obama handed Trump a great economy, that Biden stressed that people should pay attention to the “facts” he was presenting. According to Biden, the economy, so enjoyed by Democrats and Republicans, under President Trump was actually the fruits of the hard work of the Obama Administration. So naturally, Joe failed to point out that this “good economy” he referred to was now three years into the Trump Administration. <p></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-df656b39-7fff-83c9-81f2-eab649376e81"><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Now, as most Americans look around and wonder what happened to gas prices, food prices, and what the heck is going on with energy prices, Biden again has an answer. On April 28, 2021, four months into Biden’s presidency and as prices skyrocket and America starts into what is now viewed as the worst economy and the highest inflation rate since 1982, Biden has the answer. It’s all Trump’s fault. According to Biden, he “inherited the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.” Well, perhaps that is a little overdramatic, but if you’re going to lie, why not just lie big? Lying appears to be Biden’s key weapon. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Notwithstanding all the many promises Biden made and has since ignored, it’s hard to blame Trump for a lousy economy. If you look at the facts - as Biden so expresses - these negative economic impacts did not happen until Biden took office and started implementing his policies. The Biden policies have stalled shipping of products, raised government minimum wage overnight without the gradual increase usually recommended, and pushed for increases in the minimum wage, which some companies adopted, again, without a monitored and planned rollout. These Economic Ignorant actions have directly harmed the economy. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Now let’s be fair yes people working jobs deserve better wages, but let’s also understand something about minimum wage. First, the minimum wage was never meant to be a living wage. It was meant for high school kids, college students, and trade students. It was meant to be your first job wage while working toward something more significant and better. The concept is simple, you earn minimum wage until you’re skilled or degreed to a level of doing something else, or you advance in your job through the ranks. Unfortunately, this system is not working, and in many cases, people have chosen to continue to work minimum wage jobs instead of trying to find something better. Fast forward, and suddenly the guy at the coffee shop is making $18 an hour to fix your coffee; the guy flipping hamburgers is making $15 an hour to push a timer and flip a burger. The people stocking the shelves at your craft store make $18.50 an hour. But, as we do this, we have degreed people making $14 an hour, we have skilled medical people making $16 an hour, and those people, after years of hard work and education, have been left behind. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">With the boom in wages comes a boom in cost. This means that corporations have to raise the price of products and services to make money. Once they raise costs, even the people making $18 an hour will find it hard to make ends meet. Let’s not even talk about seniors on fixed incomes that anticipated a slow economic growth and slow wage increases…not an overnight doubling of wages. The answer to who started all this across the country…Joe Biden. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So, Joe has a good idea - let’s get more money to the working people…let’s raise the minimum wage. That’s fine, but obviously, nobody in the White House understands basic economics…just listen to the press secretary for a minute, and you can figure that out…so if Joe raises wages - especially federal contractors and workers- and others follow the program, then you have an economy that can not help but suffer huge setbacks. The plan should have been set up like Arkansas set theirs up - slow and one step at a time. Arkansas has a plan to raise the minimum wage over several years…not overnight. But Arkansas has a Republican Governor and Republican-controlled legislature, so it’s not likely Joe was going to listen to him. While Republicans in Arkansas implemented a well-thought-out and coordinated plan presented to the people, Biden simply jumped forward without any thought to the consequences of his actions. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">No, Joe, you did not “inherit the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.” No, Joe, you started the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression by ignoring fundamental economic truths. But, to be fair, what can we expect from a man confused about whether Trump inherited a great economy or gave Biden a bad one? Biden, you can’t have it both ways.</span></p><div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div></span>That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645720615625837995.post-38390596357090268762021-10-27T17:45:00.000-05:002021-10-27T17:45:10.258-05:00What Biden's Unrealized Capital Gains Tax Really Means to America<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilYXLrkIsc2IQRWFI-WIJgk0vAN02JScOxu4xSKunulnHGcfiCz-cT8dxyoYrE94H1gXhB5Qm2Ivu0JXhRPWknXXOlyjaSqZqNLjKp8W7m5Q1yc1aVodAzaOEbpofvUtmfnUsU0A2hBCbw/" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Taxes" data-original-height="137" data-original-width="300" height="91" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilYXLrkIsc2IQRWFI-WIJgk0vAN02JScOxu4xSKunulnHGcfiCz-cT8dxyoYrE94H1gXhB5Qm2Ivu0JXhRPWknXXOlyjaSqZqNLjKp8W7m5Q1yc1aVodAzaOEbpofvUtmfnUsU0A2hBCbw/w200-h91/Tax.jpeg" width="200" /></a></div><br />If you haven't heard about the proposed "Unrealized Capital Gains Tax," then get ready for a new concept from the old "Tax and Spend" Democrats. The idea is simple. Billionaires would now pay a tax on what they might earn. In perhaps the simplest forms, the tax would be on what you might earn if you decided to sell or liquidate a business, property, stock, etc. They currently talk about applying this plan to billionaires, but at least one Senator has already stated it could be floated to millionaires as well. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if Democrats take it to billionaires and eventually millionaires, someone will yell discrimination. When Democrats realize they are discriminating by targeting billionaires (class discrimination - go on and look that up), they are going to discover the only answer they can...the Unrealized Capital Gains Tax must be applied to everyone. Surprise! <p></p><p>Now, you may be wondering what that means to you, and the answer can get complicated, so let's take a theoretical look: </p><p>Unrealized Capital Gains tax would be implemented based on what you might earn, so if you bought stock worth $100 today, but next week, that same stock skyrocketed to $1000, you would stand to make $900 off your investment. Sounds good, right? Well, let's say you decide to keep the stock and not sell. Now you don't make the $900 off the stock. In the meantime, in comes the government, and they say, "Ah, you could have made $900 off that stock, but you did not, so it's 'Unrealized,' and now you owe taxes." </p><p>Now there are various capital gains tax rates, and most depend on the amount made, how long the asset was held, etc., but since they range from 10% to about 37%, we'll just go with 25% for our little demonstration here. </p><p>The government is now taxing your $900- remember you don't have it; you did not realize it (it's unrealized). You will have 25% of that $900, and that will now be your tax owed of $225. In the meantime, that stock drops back to $100 - yes, stocks can drop and don't even get started on cryptocurrency and how much it can climb and drop. You now have a stock worth $100, for which you owe $225 in taxes for having it in your name or business name. What are you going to do? Simple, you're going to pay $225 regardless of the stock's current status. You now have to sell your stock for $100, add $125 to that money and send a check to the IRS for $225. You have to do this all because the stock had 'Unrealized Gains' on your $100 investment, even if it only went up for a day or a few hours. Take that concept and apply it to everything - your 401K, your stock, cryptocurrency, land investments, rental properties, farms, small business, large business, inherited business or farms and land...get the picture yet?</p><p>So, in the end, the billionaire takes their money, leaves the country for a tax-friendly country, and lives the rest of their lives on a beach somewhere sipping soft drinks. No longer do they invest in a business, start more business or build on current business because the last thing that billionaire is going to do is give up large sums of money on something they never realized. The same will happen to the millionaire. Finally, those in the middle class perhaps investing in small portfolios, will find their Domino's pizza stock throws them into a forced liquidation or bankrupt case with the IRS. Many Americans will go bankrupt as many businesses simply fold. This will then have a cascading outcome on the United States. Business will close, goods and services will be hard to obtain, American unemployment will be unbelievable, and perhaps at higher rates than even the Great Depression and people will starve. The small and large farms alike collapse and fold while trying desperately to sell grandpa's farm just to pay taxes. </p><p>One final thought - you don't think this can happen? You think they will only "stick it to" the rich...When the 16th Amendment was put in place, only 1% of the U.S. population paid income taxes. Everyone believed the focus was, surprise, the rich. So the rich began paying taxes. The design was to focus on a certain income level in each state to support America. Today, very few Americans pay 0 income tax. Somehow that "rich only" view just worked its way right on down to...well, everyone. Do you really think Unrealized Capital Gains Tax will only affect billionaires? You may want to really think long and hard about that. </p>That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645720615625837995.post-83883077154041501042021-08-21T12:52:00.003-05:002021-08-21T12:52:37.171-05:00Biden's Afghanistan 2021<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZDLKaDtOAb5oqU8787Wr2_TcKTskEX_8TGc8gucGf9nONhyphenhyphenPdd1RDSjT9DvUYqHSviVuUXofzlf1QecFXcN3_06jKl6DDnFHvMzFdLJWz58a48wzsnBzoTIkzifrtwDgD2gUbl2cpuxrg/s300/afghan+fall.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Fall of Saigon and Afghanistan" border="0" data-original-height="187" data-original-width="300" height="124" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZDLKaDtOAb5oqU8787Wr2_TcKTskEX_8TGc8gucGf9nONhyphenhyphenPdd1RDSjT9DvUYqHSviVuUXofzlf1QecFXcN3_06jKl6DDnFHvMzFdLJWz58a48wzsnBzoTIkzifrtwDgD2gUbl2cpuxrg/w200-h124/afghan+fall.png" width="200" /></a></div>They say those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it, and perhaps that is the problem Joe Biden now faces in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, for all the memes, jokes, cartoons, and political discussions about Biden's mental status, it appears his forgetfulness is in full swing when it comes to American history. According to his own assessments, Biden has been in service to the United States for more than 120 years (<a href="https://heavy.com/news/joe-biden-senate-120-years-ago-video/)" target="_blank">https://heavy.com/news/joe-biden-senate-120-years-ago-video/)</a>, but he now appears to be on the verge of a full-blown Dementia attack. It's no joke that he sometimes appears to be suffering from some stage of Dementia, but with all the history surrounding his staff, it is unclear why someone would not remind him about the fall of Saigon in 1975. <div><br /></div><div>We are now repeating history. The Vietnam of 2021 is Afghanistan. Much like those shocking images from 1975, we are now seeing shocking images in 2021 as a United States President pulls out. Like Vietnam, there is no "formal" surrender being written or completed, but we are running out of Afghanistan like we did Vietnam. As we run, the Viet Cong of today -the Taliban -is sweeping across the country, taking control, changing government, and ultimately preparing to be in command of all U.S. weapons, resources, and supplies left behind as we abandon the country. </div><div><br /></div><div>Let me be clear...like Vietnam, Afghanistan does not represent the loss of the war by the American military. No, Afghanistan today represents the loss of the war by one, and that one is Joe Biden. As Biden rushes to cover himself by blaming a previous President, even Congressional Democrats and Republicans are keenly aware that Biden is doing this all by himself. For twenty years, the American military has followed orders, served, lost lives, and fought the war on terrorism that started that September 11 morning. </div><div><br /></div><div>Like many, I can remember September 11. I remember the cries for revenge, retribution, and war. I remember one interview with some military members just hours after the attacks. They said, "Give us the target, and we will take them out." These men and women were not making political statements; they knew the power of the American military. They knew the power of their friends in uniform, and they knew the power of those who would sign up, train, and go to war. They knew they could win, and they did. </div><div><br /></div><div>Make no mistake. What will go down in history most likely as a defeat in Afghanistan is not a defeat of the American military. It is not a defeat of those who died, those who suffered and are still suffering. It is not a defeat of those who came home. It is not a defeat of the United States. No, this defeat sits squarely on President Joe Biden's shoulders. He has tried to blame Trump for setting a deadline. Still, that statement only shows that Biden thinks the American public is stupid...after all, Biden has changed just about everything else Trump did, so why would he not change a deadline or withdrawal plan? No, Joe, this is all yours. </div><div><br /></div><div>We, the American people, our military, our veterans, know. We know where the defeat of Afghanistan is, and it is not with us. No, President Joe Biden, this is all your defeat. Further, when the next election rolls around, we will not forget. You and your administration have betrayed our veterans, military, and country with this surrender in Afghanistan. The Biden Administration and all those associated with it will be remembered in Afghanistan by the people you abandon there. Further, you will be remembered in America by the people who vote. </div>That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645720615625837995.post-86300770025295071782021-07-18T14:45:00.005-05:002021-07-18T14:45:51.692-05:00Miller County Republican Committee to Host 2A Fun Shoot in Texarkana on August 14<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcwDQVBduVY_skNhKIcLYALiRIOUGW6D1Koax75QMhaOdioWAXpusCxwV-OrqjEF9V6oXr4ZiERmldkRdisu6k1LInX89XNDKXO9FmZyZRljVMrIgwSaKcFwLj58NQ0vJTUarMVRld26yH/s458/2AFunshoot.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="2A Fun Shoot" border="0" data-original-height="300" data-original-width="458" height="131" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcwDQVBduVY_skNhKIcLYALiRIOUGW6D1Koax75QMhaOdioWAXpusCxwV-OrqjEF9V6oXr4ZiERmldkRdisu6k1LInX89XNDKXO9FmZyZRljVMrIgwSaKcFwLj58NQ0vJTUarMVRld26yH/w200-h131/2AFunshoot.png" title="2A Fun Shoot" width="200" /></a></div>The Miller County Republican Committee (MCRC) will host its first <strong>2A Fun Shoot</strong> at

Saturday, the President returned to the stage to make a political speech in North Carolina. The news shared it, and for the most part, it was a standard, post-Presidency type of speech made to the party. It is not unusual for a former president to speak to state parties, national parties, or national conventions. These speeches are recorded, kept for historical purposes, shared for the party, and almost always placed on YouTube. <p></p><p>If you doubt a former president's speech is on YouTube, you know because it may violate their content rules, do your own search. A quick search for Bill Clinton found the former President's speech to the Democrat National Convention (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LthzOu2vdfc" target="_blank">speech here</a>) easily accessible. Apparently, the same rules do not apply to President Clinton as they are applied to President Trump. Trump's speech was on YouTube until recently. In fact, you can attempt to find Trump's speech (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TobR080Fy2o" target="_blank">speech was here</a>), and all you will find is "This video has been removed for violating YouTube's Community Guidelines." </p><p>You may not like Trump, and that's okay. You may not like Clinton, and that's okay. The wonderful thing about the United States and our freedom of speech is that we can all decide if we want to listen or not to any person. We can decide if we want to be a Republican or Democrat. Part of that decision-making process comes from being exposed, learning, and making informed decisions based on different ideas and views. We learn and make those decisions about politics by hearing, reading, and agreeing with a person or party on issues. If the views presented agree with our own views, we may become Democrats or become Republicans. However, when that information is not available, it becomes a problem. </p><p>Even if you hate Trump, you should be worried when a corporation that promotes videos with all sorts of opinions and views decides to cut out a political video it does not agree with and say it violates "community guidelines." You should be concerned because corporations change, and boards of directors change. Anytime leadership changes, views may also change. When you limit or refuse to allow a political view in a public forum, you walk a dangerous line that comes close to what we see in other countries. One view may easily be discarded or deleted today, then a view you support may be just as easily discarded tomorrow. When anyone's political views are discarded in public, then freedom is threatened for all of us. </p>That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645720615625837995.post-1384989628616778002021-04-02T12:27:00.001-05:002021-04-02T12:27:18.292-05:00HB 1435 - Misinformation and Lies<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN7x8Ddji8GVJ8-eBMIx7pd2S6xT-YYWB2NIt0ZKaQhx65Bgf9WozLEXMvx8eFCLU9uASIrOmHi5AKoOTrzwbzyeWBUYZ0eboAM92L8Tilmsw_f3cOoGyffhidbEvoz9FWqELsaFbkyEHb/s300/HBDalby.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="300" data-original-width="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN7x8Ddji8GVJ8-eBMIx7pd2S6xT-YYWB2NIt0ZKaQhx65Bgf9WozLEXMvx8eFCLU9uASIrOmHi5AKoOTrzwbzyeWBUYZ0eboAM92L8Tilmsw_f3cOoGyffhidbEvoz9FWqELsaFbkyEHb/s0/HBDalby.jpeg" /></a></div>There is an old saying I heard someone use the other day, and it goes, "Lies go around the world while the truth is still putting its boots on." A recent event in the House Judiciary Committee in Little Rock highlights the truth about this old saying. A vote on HB1435 within the committee was called, voted on, and the bill did not advance. In simple terms, it failed to pass the committee. The bill was intended to help prevent Federal enforcement of unconstitutional laws in the state of Arkansas. It should have ended there, or it should have been rewritten and tried again, or any number of other avenues if the sponsors of the bill wanted it to proceed, and this may still happen. The problem was not the failure to pass the bill out of the committee. The problem is the rapid and almost immediate spread of misinformation and lies about who voted and did not vote on the bill. <p></p><p>Representative Carl Dalby of Texarkana, the Judiciary Committee chair, came under fire on social media for a video of the vote and a lie stating she did not vote. In the video, the Judiciary Committee called for the vote. Each name was called out except for Dalby's. From this video, the misinformation concerning how the vote was handled was spread across social media. This misinformation took life as the lie that Dalby did not vote. People began to say that the vote was 8 in favor of the bill moving forward, 9 against, and 2 abstaining. In truth, Dalby is the committee chair and therefore would have given her vote directly from the chair's position-this is not uncommon, and it is not uncommon to not call the chair's name. Dalby's "Yes" vote was recorded in the state's record. </p><p>As soon as the misinformation and lie were spread, Dalby went online, addressed it, and posted a final tally vote copy. Dalby voted "Yes," according to this document. The resulting vote was a 9 for, 9 against, and 2 abstaining. A tie is called a failed vote, and therefore the bill did not move forward. </p><p><br />You would think Dalby presenting this would be the end of the discussion; however, as noted, "Lies go around the world while the truth is still putting its boots on." Well, as the lie spread, more people began to contact Dalby. While some were naturally polite, many others were not. There have been threats against Dalby's life, against her home, and outright rude calls. She has been called names and threatened as the lie continues to spread. Unfortunately, some of those calling Dalby even claim to be Republicans. </p><p>It is time to stop. </p><p>The threats, the attacks, the misinformation, and the lies need to stop now. It is not only the right thing to do; it may very well be the legally correct thing to do. Dalby, an attorney, will be much more familiar with the laws concerning threats than I am. I can only assume that she is considering all avenues of legal responses to the people who spread the misinformation, lies, and threats. As for those threatening Representative Dalby, you need to consider crawling back under whatever rock-covered infestation you came out of and be thankful if there are no legal repercussions. </p><p>Dalby has worked diligently for the Texarkana area and Arkansas since being elected as a Representative. She has spoken with people freely, she has answered questions, and she has kept an open line of communication with anyone, even people outside her district, wishing to talk with her. She has proven time and time again to be an honorable representative, and perhaps more important than that, she has proven to be a loyal and honorable person. I dare say some of those calling Representative Dalby would not wish to compare records and history with this woman. Hopefully, the calls will stop, the lies will stop, this spread of misinformation will be stopped. Dalby deserves better than this, and in fact, Arkansas deserves better respect for all of our elected officials. </p>That Writerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07816758298098242191noreply@blogger.com0
